Help End Animal Experimentation in NZ — Become an NZAVS Committee Member!
We’re looking for passionate people who are anti-vivisection to volunteer to join our committee and help guide and administer NZAVS.
We are accepting applicants from anywhere in NZ. As our monthly meetings are via phone, you don't have to be based in Christchurch to be on the team.
We are looking for people with the following skills:
Strong organisational skills
Experience working in a group
Good leadership skills
A commitment to the goals and policies of NZAVS
NZAVS is an incorporated society, this means that we are a legally registered organisation formed for reasons other than financial gain (i.e. to end animal experimentation).
As we are an Incorporated Society, we have a managing committee (“the Committee”), comprising the following persons:
- The Chair/President;
- The Secretary;
- The Treasurer; and
- Other active Committee members
As a committee member, you will help guide NZAVS to be a sustainable and successful organisation. Our committee meets once a month to discuss current issues and vote on relevant matters.
We are looking for multiple new committee members including a new Treasurer. If you have skills relating to finance and budgeting then we would love to hear from you!
From the Society rules:
9.3 The Treasurer is responsible for:
Keeping proper accounting records of the Society’s financial transactions to allow the Society’s financial position to be readily ascertained;
Preparing annual financial statements for presentation at each Annual General Meeting. These statements should be prepared in accordance with the Societies’ accounting policies (see 8.1.d).
Providing a financial report at each Annual General Meeting;
Providing financial information to the Committee as the Committee determines.
