Lab animals in NZ urgently need your help!

Lab animals in NZ urgently need your help!

Our 'Out of the Labs' petition is at its final stage and we need your help to ensure that it's successful!

Exactly one year ago today (27th April 2017), we (NZAVS and HUHANZ), presented a petition to parliament asking the government to create a mandatory retirement policy for ex-lab animals, to help encourage the rehoming of ex-lab animals and prevent unnecessary euthanasia.

Now, this important petition is at the select committee stage and could be decided upon any day now by the Primary Production Select Committee!

While the change we are asking for is small, it would have a huge impact and would save thousands of animals lives in New Zealand...We are hoping that the MPs in the Primary Production Select Committee make the right decision and let animals live, out of the lab!

Any day now the government will be deciding on the fate of thousands of lab animals in New Zealand. We need your help to encourage MPs to make the right decision and create a mandatory retirement policy for ex-lab animals in NZ!

TAKE ACTION: Send a friendly message to the MPs making this important decision (action now closed; other ways you can support us here).

By filling out and submitting this form you will send an instant message to all eight MPs in the Primary Production Select Committee. We have met with these MPs and they all appear to be very respectful and receptive to our message. This is why we only want to send positive, encouraging messages.

A mandatory retirement policy would encourage the rehoming of ex-lab animals and prevent unnecessary euthanasia, this means thousands of animals lives could be saved!
